Alaniz didn’t start in a boardroom; it started with a belief that entrepreneurs deserve better.

Before founding the agency in 2008, Roxanne Alaniz saw a clear gap in the market. Passionate leaders were being underserved by traditional vendors who offered “deliverables” but lacked “heart.” They needed a partner who cared as much about the mission as they did.

Over the past 17 years, Roxanne has led Alaniz through every major shift in the digital landscape—from the rise of social media to the dawn of AI—always keeping one thing constant: a genuine, relationship-driven commitment to the client’s success.

Beyond the Traditional Agency Model.

For years, we functioned as a high-level full-service agency. But we noticed a recurring frustration: clients didn’t want to be “locked-in.” They wanted independence. They wanted to own their growth, not just rent it.

At the same time, the world changed. Budgets tightened, AI reshaped workflows, and the need for internal capability became paramount.

So, we evolved. We moved from being a “done-for-you” vendor to a “growth-enablement” partner. We built a model that combines high-level strategy with the systems and coaching necessary for you to build your own in-house growth engine.

Gerri brings a wealth of experience to her role as Alaniz’s community relations ambassador and business development executive. She is responsible for Alaniz’s presence in the San Francisco Bay Area communities and has fostered relationships with many charities and organizations in the area. Julian Hoover is a Web + SEO Specialist based in the Bay Area with over 10 years of experience building high-performance websites in WordPress and HubSpot. He combines strong technical skill with a detail-oriented, organized approach—translating creative and marketing goals into clean, efficient, and user-friendly digital experiences. Known for persistence and problem-solving, he is passionate about optimizing performance, accessibility, and design consistency across every build.

Jennefer brings a thoughtful blend of psychology, healthcare marketing, and project management to the Alaniz Marketing team. With a background in psychology and experience co-authoring peer-reviewed academic journals, she takes a research-informed approach to campaign strategy and community engagement. Jennefer specializes in making complex ideas clear and accessible, especially for diverse and underrepresented audiences. Her technical background as a web developer adds an edge to her digital work. When she’s not managing projects or collaborating with community partners, you can find her on the tennis court or enjoying a hike outdoors.

Esteffani Nevarez

Esteffani coordinates campaigns for our Hispanic marketing division. Esteffani has a background in hospitality management and also managed operations at a renowned surf and paddle board shop, Capitola Surf and Paddle.  In her (not so) free time, Esteffani can be found chasing a handsome one year old around the surf village of Capitola.

Jason Satterlund

Jason Satterlund is an award-winning director and owner of Big Puddle Films, a full-service film production company established in 2001.

Satterlund has been writing and directing films for over 25 years. He travels the world creating feature films, television series, commercials, music videos, and documentaries.

Satterlund wrote and directed the award-winning feature film The Record Keeperwhich premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in London and is the creator of the children’s TV show, Studio 316. When he isn’t busy directing his own projects, he enjoys teaching filmmaking workshops, shaping the filmmakers of the future.
