What’s New in the HubSpot Software? (February update)

By February 2, 2015May 13th, 2019Uncategorized

This article is part of our “HubSpot Updates series” – showing the latest updates to your HubSpot software portal and tips on how to use these updates.  Click here to see more articles from this series.

There have been lots of changes to the HubSpot software platform in the past month. Here is a roundup of the most important of these changes, plus an introduction to a completely NEW training tool that we’ve tested and found extremely useful.

There’s no place like (content) home. . .

It’s true! The Content Home screen is gone! You can now find your content as well as who drafted, created, deleted, or published it within the Site Page or Landing Pages. Additionally, the Calendar now allows you to organize your content by campaign or content type.

As a further change, on Feb 12th the File Manager will become a navigation item under Content, and the Calendar will move to a stand-alone icon next to the Academy icon.

Sending email to additional recipients

“Oh, darn! Bob and Sue and John weren’t on that email I sent yesterday!” How many times have you said something like that? Now you can the use the new “Send to more” button right within the email results page to send to one more person or multiple people. Not only does this functionality save time, it also streamlines reporting to that single email rather than being spread across multiple emails.

To send email to additional recipients, simply go to an email that has already been sent and click on the “Send to more” button.

Anyone the email has already been sent to will not receive it a second time. You do not need to add a suppression list or exclude individuals from earlier emails sent.

File manager search improvements

The new File Manager search function let’s you search for any file no matter what folder it is in. This is my favorite update for the month! Now we can find an image in any folder very easily.

Retroactively tag social messages by campaign

If you forget to tag every social message to a campaign, you’ll really like the new functionality that lets you apply retroactive tagging.

How it works: Go to Social > Publishing, and click into any message you want to add a campaign to. Click on “Add campaign” (as shown below), and select the campaign from the dropdown.

Note: When retroactively tagging a message with a campaign, it will not track visits for that campaign. It will add any click data for that message into your campaign and track interactions for that message in a campaign’s report in Social Reports.

Simplified list imports

List importing has gotten easier. When you go to Contacts > Lists and click on the Import button, you get the familiar option to upload your CSV file .  Then you’ll see a new model window that eliminates many of the decisions you used to have to make when uploading.

If you want to use the old process with the ability to choose an import type, add contacts to an existing list, define a lifecycle stage, or set a default date format, simply click on the “Switch to advanced view” link.

There are several other product updates to the software recently, but I want to jump to something that I think is really exciting. . .Customer Projects!

Brand new resources to help you reach your goals!

HubSpot has just released a brand new set of resources that will help your new team members be more effective and remind some of us “old hands” how to do things we may not have done in awhile. Welcome to Customer Projects.

There are currently six projects, with plans to add many more this quarter. Each of these is a stand-alone how-to that lists all the steps for a project, and all the to-dos for each step, along with a few pro tips. We’ve tested several of these and found them not only very complete, but also extremely useful.

Content Offer Campaign

This project includes steps to effectively launch a content offer campaign. Steps include building out a conversion process and promoting the content offer to help generate qualified visitors and leads.

Email Newsletter

This project will teach you how to write an effective newsletter that people will look forward to reading. If done right, newsletters ensure a guaranteed audience that can help accomplish business goals by leveraging existing content.

Lead Scoring

This project will help you set up lead scoring rules to determine which leads to engage with in order of priority. Lead Scoring is a critical component of an effective lead management strategy.

Lifecycle Stage

Lifecycle stage is a default HubSpot property that designates where contacts are in your marketing and sale cycle. This project will walk you through the necessary steps of setting up lifecycle stages in HubSpot.

Trade Show Campaign

Do you have a trade show or special event coming up? This project walks you through how to have a successful trade show by using inbound marketing. It provides steps for building out an editorial calendar, monitoring social media for the event, and generating leads during the event.

Webinar Campaign

Thinking about hosting a webinar? This project has all of the necessary steps to plan, build and successfully execute a webinar campaign.

And there you have it – a roundup of enhancements recently made to your HubSpot portal. By the way, these enhancements are all available in Basic, Professional and Enterprise versions.
