4 Reasons Why Your Company Needs a Marketing Game Plan

By December 16, 2015February 6th, 2023Uncategorized

Successful sports teams don’t just wake up one day and decide that they are going to be number one. It takes a well thought out game plan that is implemented with precision and expertise.

Successful inbound marketing is no different. In order to be able to attain real success in inbound marketing it is also imperative to have a game plan in place.

A game plan essentially acts as a guide to keep your marketing on track, focusing on the key result areas of your business. If you neglect to put a game plan in place to direct your actions and activities, you are probably wasting time and money.

Get Focused

A game plan acts like a set of directions. What do directions do? They take you from where you are to where you want to go. This is exactly what having a game plan in place for your inbound marketing campaign allows you to do. A successful game plan will consist of a lead nurturing campaign focused solely around one of your  buyer personas. By focusing on this persona and knowing exactly what it is you need to get done each day, week, and month you can go focus in on these tasks with laser precision.

Be Efficient

Having a game plan in place for your inbound marketing can also drastically increase your efficiency. If you don’t have a clear-cut plan it’s likely that you are thinking up topics on the fly for blog post and emails with no clear-cut strategy.  This can lead to lower efficiency and productivity. By creating a gameplan that is has a specific target and detailed plan   you can focus your efforts and spend more time and energy on creating relevant content.

Save Time

A well thought-out game plan can help you map out exactly what tasks need to be done and when they need to be done by. One of the biggest wastes of time is coming up with a-la-carte marketing ideas that have no focus or specific outcomes in mind. With a game plan in place, you can ensure that you are spending your time completing the specific tasks necessary for a successful campaign in a timely manner ensuring concise and focused content. With the absence of a game plan, many unsuccessful marketers spend time doing things that do not have any real impact on their business. If these individuals had a game plan in place, they could much more easily prioritize their activities and get the key tasks done each and every day.

Metrics, Please

Having a focused gameplan also enables you to look at the metrics of a campaign and see if it was a success or if there are areas where it can be tweaked to do better next time.  No campaign is a failure if you can walk away saying you learned what worked and what didn’t.

The fact is having a game plan in place is going to set up your inbound marketing agency for success. If you want to learn more about creating a game plan for your company make sure to download our Free Alaniz Marketing Sample Game Plan.
